The spiral in the center of this piece represents the same form that people have carved into stone and pressed into metal for as long as we can remember. I created this for those who feel something when they look at it - who put it on their ankle and observe it throughout the day.
The spiral is made from a continuous strip of copper, which I hand-twisted from the center outward and then attached to a specially shaped and gently curved strip to fit properly around the ankle. People who wear copper on their ankles say their joints feel more stable - their knees, their legs, those parts that carry everything.
This is one of the last anklets I will make before I close my workshop. I hope the spiral finds the ankle it belongs to.
